Small Entryway Storage Ideas for Narrow Hallways

A narrow entryway fails for one reason: everything is stored at floor level. Once shoes are stacked two deep on the floor, the space is full even though the wall above is empty.

Go vertical before you go wide

A tall, narrow rack that fits a 26 cm gap holds more pairs than a wide low bench, and it keeps the walking line clear. Measure the gap first, then buy — not the other way round.

Reserve the top two tiers for daily shoes

Whatever you wear most should be at hip height, not at the bottom. Seasonal or occasional pairs go low and high.

One pair per tier, toes in

Toes pointing into the rack means the heels face out. It looks tidier and you can count pairs at a glance.

Use the space above the door

A hanging bag for hats, gloves, keys and reusable bags keeps the flat surfaces clear — and flat surfaces are what make a small entryway look messy.
